How to Form New Healthy Habits

Everything we do on a daily regimen is a habit.  We live mostly on autopilot and in many ways it's to make our life easier.  But, unfortunately we can create and form bad habits and you know what?  You're not alone.  We are all guilty of forming bad habits just as easy and we form good habits.

Fortunately, once we disrupt bad habits and form a new routine to become better, we trigger a boost of happiness that processes as a reward.  But first, we must break the cycle and recognize the action that must take place in order for this to occur.  Habits are challenging and perhaps life altering but it is important to see the whole process that we do again and again and find ways to modify this.

We are all prone to having autonomic processes occur more than we realize but if we are to slow down and realize that our mind is in control of all this, we can achieve anything that we put our mind towards and it does become easier over time.  All good and bad habits start with a trigger, which causes action, which gives us some kind of reward.  Once you see the pattern, you also can harness it to help you achieve your goals.

Our behavior is all programmed to be on autopilot so how can we break old habits and form new healthy habits?  It all starts with getting started and instead of trying to change ourselves, the best method is to change our surroundings and start with small microscopic goals.  Especially if we are addicted to smoking, drugs and alcohol than this may require us to change our environment temporarily and seek help with a licensed professional but for the majority of us all it takes is replaces "this with that."

Once we have accepted that change is happening and the routine is no longer a habit that we want, then taking tiny steps to slowly get to that specific new habit makes things very easy and measurable for us not to become overwhelmed.  Hardwiring our thoughts, behaviors and emotions can be exhausting but not if you take micro steps of action to get there.

One small change after another causes a ripple effect inside of us to keep going.  Shaking things up as they say to get our brain out of autopilot helps us adapt to new routines but you have to remember to be easy on yourself and give yourself time.  Instead of being dependent on something, reward the motivation, strength and courage it took for you just get to this point.

Continue following the new healthy pattern and if it isn't sticking then there is an underlying problem inside of us that needs to be addressed and possibly ask for help.  Rewrite your beliefs and place a spin on thinking in a new dimension.  Things like taking time for yourself, turning off any distractions to not be disturbed, getting outside and moving your body, giving yourself space to enjoy moments in the present moment, learning to love the ones around you more and most importantly finding your WHY.

Open the door to discovering yourself again and find all that you can accomplish by just relearning and reliving your life again.  Most of us know someone that is dealing with addictions around us wether it's smoking, drinking, overeating and when we allow ourselves to help ourselves to turn a blind eye but first and foremost we cannot change anyone except ourselves and to find change within us and try new ways forms to become healthier, a lot of the times it will also give motivation to others that truly need a boost of inspiration to get them going as well.

Hope this has helped open your eyes to how amazing you are and if you know someone who could really use this to fuel a new healthy change in their life please let them know that you love them and you believe their worthy of so much more.
