WHAT ARE SOME OF THE HEALTH RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH TOO MUCH BODY FAT?

Excess body fat is associated with increased risk of heart disease, blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, stroke and some forms of cancer.  Unfortunately, emotional health and wellbeing are also often negatively impacted due to societal pressure of being thin.

WHAT HEALTH RISKS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH TOO LITTLE BODY FAT?


Health risks associated with having too little body fat included hypothermia, vitamin toxicity, and cessation of menstrual cycles and osteoporosis for women.  Some fates necessary.  The fat that surrounds the spinal cord, heart and other vital organs is called essential fat because it is needed to sustain life.

TIPS:

Obtain your body fat measurements in millimeters using a body fat caliper.

Obtain your BMI using your correct age and height using a BMI Wheel

Obtain a body measurement tape unit and measure your body parts once a week (write them in a journal) so that while correctively losing fat in areas that are necessary you can be more mindful of areas on your body that NEED VITAL body fat storage for your health.
