Introduction to the Gym
If you’ve never stepped foot inside a gym this should help you get started.
First, what are your goals? Weight loss time frame? Toning up time schedule and eating plan?
Also, women’s section are my go to. I fall in love being around all the women who also are making a change and doing exercises that yeah we all probably hate (except me) but we all are giving each other support.
But the only support that is the best for me is being social and talking to my teammates, coach and fitness family. We’re social creatures and going to the gym alone and especially working in the women’s section will not help you get out and meet new people. I would highly consider joining a Bootcamp or any classes and style of exercising that can give you an approach to actually talk with people rather than just to go and work out.
Also, bringing a gym bag with everything you need. Not what everyone is using and drinking and wearing BUT what works with you.
Bag:
Water
Gloves
Headphones
Hand Sanitize
Gym
Hair tie, headband
Sweat towel
Extra $ in case you HAVE to eat or drink ASAP at the gym.
A lot of beginners do not eat enough and crash very fast which overwhelms and scares a lot of people, but just arriving to the gym and doing 15-20 minutes of easy cardio for your 1st week...YOUVE WON!!!
Now from there add extra reps of machines or do extra a little here or there EACH WEEK and do not increase weight until you’ve worked out a schedule 2-3 times a week for ONE MONTH STRAIGHT!
Find friends, say hi to women you see on a regular basis, put out a post looking for gym sisters and allow yourself to feel uncomfortable.
It took me over a year and a half working out with my trainer and teammates before I really felt comfortable going into the gym by myself. So be easy on a walk not a sprint making your life working out as a beginner in the gym.
