How Well Are You Sleeping?


How well are you sleeping? 
Are you sleeping through the night?  Are you restless?  Do you toss and turn?  Do you feel rejuvenated or tired in the morning?  Are you up during the night?

I’ve had insomnia for years and here’s a few tips I use to get my 💤 😴 🛏 

Go to bed early
Cut back on caffeine 
Cut back on salt
Take magnesium
Stay warm
Clean sheets regularly 
Buy new pillows every 6 months
Get a sleep machine
Turn off TV and cell phones early
Don’t eat past 7pm
Use a lavender eye pillow


Last night I was up at 2am and I can’t take naps or else my sleep cycle is extremely messed up.  So yes being a light sleeper has caused me to sleep in a separate bed than my husband sometimes because I go to bed super early and cannot have dogs, tv, lights on or anything distract me.

Even my cell phone has to be turned off right when the sun goes down so that the melatonin can start gearing up in my body.  My husband understands extensively since he knows how hard I train and how bad I want to become a IFBB Bodybuilding Pro.  But even so, my man likes to sleep in and I wake up way earlier than him to wake and feed the parrots so this whole mess of different sleep cycles and lifestyle regimes between the two of us has taken years for us to be understanding about sleeping in separate beds.

At first, when I mentioned the idea, I was lucky getting 4-5 hours a sleep a night because he would snore and wake me up around 2am but it’s when I would be so rude to him first thing in the mornings because of my exhaustion, that’s when I realized I was desperate to get my deep rem sleep whatever it took.  

I went to a sleep specialist, got gene a sleep apnea machine and so much more but finally when we realized that we sometimes go to sleep at different times and sleep differently that we started to really respect one another more and trust our love was solid to give each other space.
