Do You Need To Take Naps in the Afternoons?
Harness a Power Nap. Set an alarm for 20 minutes and that’s the “Golden Zone”. Past 90 min places you into REM sleep and before then, you go into a deep sleep. You don’t want this during the day.
Just to dive into a quick power nap to recover, recharge but not set you in a deep trance that’s hard to break out of once the REM sleep happens. 10-20 minutes is perfect to sit still, relax the body, drop the head beat and lower the body temperature.
Also the position you relax while napping upright and not laying completely flat is an important technique because you just want to relax the mind and not knock your mind and body completely into your nighttime mode.
I can’t take naps because IT ALWAYS interferes with my nighttime sleep and since I sleep so light, it really sucks to catch up my lifestyle after I take a nap. The sleep Inertia for me is something I’d rather go to bed early and wake up early rather than stay up late and try to “catch up” on my 💤 by taking a nap.
