Beauty on a Budget
I love learning about new inexpensive ways to take care of my skin and feel beautiful. Don't you? Especially since the skin is the biggest organ we have and living in Las Vegas; I don't have time to not take care of my skin. As I age, I notice that I have taken my skin care regiment a step farther into preventive care so I can stay on top of having that beautiful healthy glow. I know it's eating clean, exercise, taking collagen and supplements but it also has to do with the products I use on my skin that matters how I age.
Every month I have to buy a certain skincare products that are SOOO expensive I can feel a little flame go off in my wallet every time I buy them but they work so well that is why I don't mind putting the money where my mouth is. The company is Rodan & Fields and why I'm not knocking this company is because their products do work fantastic and I've received several compliments about my skin ever since I've been taking them.
Taking my skin seriously started when I was a teenager and my mom use to get me Proactive in High School to try and help my horrible acne, (I wouldn't leave the house somedays because it was so bad). When I used Proactive is was expensive back then but it did clear up in less than 3 weeks and felt like I had my life back to being myself again. It was a miracle! The product back then was on every infomercial known to man and when I would need to reorder my shipment for the month, it would make me nervous knowing that it was another $50 + shipping that my mom had to fork out and even though we were on a tight budget, she didn't mind because it made me so happy. Thanks Mom <3
Now that I'm older, I don't have acne anymore, I now am getting other products from the same sister company as Proactive called Rodan & Fields and I use their Redefine Skin Care System which is a 3 month supply for $160. (They got me for $50 a month still!!) I'm not afraid to tell people the products work but I am honest when I tell then to watch out becasue heck are they expensive. They even have a MLM that you can join to sell the products to your friends and family and make $ and get free product get a discount off your order and YES there is a serious following with this MLM company but that's not by bag right now. But I'll go shopping for it still.
So where did Rodan & Fields and Proactive come from you ask?
Well, I love getting eyelash extensions...I know, I know, I have ADD but bare with me on this story. And my Eyelash Extension Specialist Rachel Powers at The Mirror Mirror Salon in Henderson was having a hard time attaching a full set of lashes to my right eye since I have such fine eyelashes and I said to her, "Well, lets just take a month and take a break from the lashes extensions and I'll let them grow out a little more". She like that idea and wanted me to buy a certain eyelash serum and use in between that time to helps make my eyelashes grow even fuller and guess what company the product was from that she wanted me to buy? Yep, R&D! And guess how much it was? $200!! I seriously was like, this company is going to get me for another big one just for fuller lashes? I mean I'll do what I have to do but geez this is ridiculous!
Luckily the hair stylist Tami said that she has always used good old fashion Castor Oil and I looked immediately on Amazon and sure enough there was a full Eyelash Serum Growth Kit with lash brushes and a To Go bottle for only $10. SOLD!!! Tami then explained how she Shamoo's and Conditions her lashes and eyebrows since of all the makeup like mascara and eyebrow gunk builds up that they need to be exfoliated and cleaned properly and that got me to thinking. I've never properly cleaned my eleyashes except with makeup removal alcohol, WOW! But I guess if my hair and even was my makeup brushes need to be washed then why have I never thought of washing my eyelashes and eyebrows before to make them healthier? Wouldn't that sting your eyes at all? Tali said a quick wash with your eyes closed of course is not a problem with her.
I am so in love with all of these fabulous beauty ideas and to top it off Tali even mentioned how she puts vaseline all over her lips and face at night for extra moisturizing and sleeps with silk pillowcases instead of cotton because its smoother on the face at night and won't cause wrinkles. Holy Cow I feel like she just showered me with some awesome beauty secrets that totally made my day that I had to share them with you :)
So that's why being confident really begins with how much you take care of yourself regardless of how much this is or how well this product works. There are things out there that yes no matter what work and are expensive. But if you budget for what's important to you than that's all that matters. Then, for what you can squeeze a dollar from a dime into go with some easy cheap inexpensive ways to take care of yourself.
Here are 3 Inexpensive Beauty Secrets I use:
Use Watermelon for sunblock
Use leftover soap to make a bigger soap and add essential oil to them.
Use Olive Oil, Avocado or Honey on your face and arms when your cooking with them and let them sit for a few minutes and wash off with cold water. (Make funny faces at anyone looking at you spreading this stuff on yourself also for simple home entertainment.)
Start to process all of the things that burn a hole in your wallet and think about some fun creative ways to budget them. Saving and feeling beautiful ROCKS! Thanks Tali and Rachel.
